When you look at Queen Elizabeth II's reign as monarch, it's actually quite spectacular. This woman holds numerous records, including the following: She is the longest-lived and longest-reigning British monarch, the longest-serving female head of state in world history, the world's oldest living monarch, and more. Pretty amazing, don't you think?

Queen Elizabeth, born Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, was born on April 21, 1926, and became Queen in 1952 when she was only 25 years old (though she was 27 years old at the time of her coronation). Her father was King George VI, who actually only became King when his older brother, Edward VIII, abdicated in December 1936. If it weren't for her uncle's abdication, there's a chance the line of succession would have looked very different. 

Nevertheless, a young Princess Elizabeth stepped into her role as Queen Elizabeth II, and has ruled the Commonwealth ever since. Considering the length of her reign, we thought it would be fun to look back at all the years of her monarchy.
